Work with more than one entity

How entities work in Summit, how to switch between them, and what each one keeps separate.

If your business runs as several companies, such as a parent and its subsidiaries, each one can be its own entity in Summit. Multiple entities are included on the Professional plan and up.

What each entity keeps separate

Each entity has its own cards, charges, policy and approvals. Settings you change while you're in one entity apply to that entity alone.

An entity can post to its own accounting connection or to its parent's. If it uses the parent's, reconnecting is done from the parent.

Switch entity

Click the organization switcher at the top of the left menu and pick the entity. Summit reloads in that entity, and your lists show its charges.

You can also go to Settings > Entities, which shows the entity you're in, its parent and the entities you belong to. Click Switch next to one.

You only see entities you're a member of. If you need access to another, ask an admin of that entity to invite you. See Invite people and choose roles.

Can't find a charge?

Check which entity you're in. Each entity has its own list. See I can't see a charge.
