Card owners and receipt requests
Why every card needs exactly one owner, and how to fix cards that nobody is asked about.
Each card's receipt requests and reminders go to the one person who carries it. A card with no owner, or one shared by several people, gets no requests at all, so its charges can sit there missing receipts with nobody asked.
Check your cards
Go to Settings > Cards & receipts > Card owners. If any card needs attention, a badge at the top says how many, like "2 cards need an owner", and those rows are highlighted.
The Owner column tells you why a card gets no requests:
| It says | What it means |
|---|---|
| No owner | Nobody is assigned to the card |
| Shared — nobody is asked for receipts | More than one person is assigned |
| Owner can't sign in — nobody is asked for receipts | The owner was added without a login, so they can't be asked |
Fix a card
- Pick one person in the card's Owner list. People added without a login show "(no login)" and deactivated people show "(deactivated)".
- Click Save changes. Discard throws away your edits.
If you pick one owner for a shared card, Summit tells you who it will remove from the card before you save.
For a shared card that really is used by a team, pick the person who should answer for its charges. Others can still see it: share the card with them.
Charge card ID
Once your accounting system is connected, the same page has a Charge card ID for each card. It's the card's account in your accounting system, and card charges export only to it. A card showing Not mapped — exports will fail needs one before its charges can export. If Summit spots a likely match, click its Use button to fill it in, then Save changes.
For QuickBooks Online, enter the credit card account's name or ID.
