Fix a bank connection
Reconnect a bank that needs attention, catch up on missed charges, and bring in new cards.
Summit reads your cards through Plaid. Banks sometimes end that access, for example after a password change or when a connection's consent runs out. When that happens, new charges stop coming in until someone reconnects.
This is admin work. If you don't see these buttons, ask your admin.
Spot a connection that needs help
Go to Cards & banks and look under Bank connections:
- A status other than active means the connection is broken.
- A warning that a connection "expires" on a date means it still works but will stop soon. Reconnect before then to avoid a gap.
Each connection also shows when it last synced.
Reconnect
- On Cards & banks, click Reconnect Now on the warning, or click Manage on the connection and then Reconnect.
- Sign in to your bank in the Plaid window and finish the steps.
Summit turns syncing back on when you're done. If you see "Plaid still reports a problem with this connection," try reconnecting again. If the bank fully removed the connection, connect it again from scratch with Connect account.
Catch up on charges you missed
After a gap, pull the missing charges in:
- On Cards & banks, click Manage on the connection.
- Under Connection, click Pull Historical.
- Choose the date range and click Pull Transactions.
Duplicates are handled for you, so it's safe to pull a range that overlaps charges you already have.
Other tools on the connection
On the same Manage page, under Connection:
- Sync Transactions checks for new charges now. Sync on Cards & banks does the same, and Sync all does it for every connection.
- Re-import Accounts brings in card accounts the bank shares through Plaid that aren't in Summit yet, like a newly issued employee card.
Refresh balances on Cards & banks updates the balances shown, without pulling charges.
